Master of Theology degree programs provide an understanding of Christian tradition through a curriculum covering Old Testament and New Testament studies, systematic and historical theology, and ancient Hebrew and Greek languages.

Typically requiring 32–48 credit hours of coursework, these programs can take up to two years of full-time study.

For example, a shorter program, like Denver Seminary or Faulkner University, of only 30–34 credit hours, that doesn’t require a thesis, could be completed in less than two years of full-time study. On the other hand, Southern California Seminary has one of the most rigorous programs, requiring 124 credit hours and five years of full-time study.

Many schools offer nighttime or part-time classes for students who have a full-time job or other commitments. A Master of Theology can be completed online, in-person, or through hybrid models.
